Washington: US Special envoy to South Asia Alice Wells has said that US will support Pakistan in implementing FATF plan and urges Islamabad to continue working with FATF in this regards.
Alice, briefed the US State Department in detail about the efforts made by Pakistan to implement plan of Financial Action Task Force (FATF). She said that though, it is a technical process but we will consider Pakistan’s foreign Minister Shah Mehmood’s request and will assist Imran Government to get out of Grey list.
Ambassador Alice said, that Pakistan is progressing positively but it’s economy is at a critical point where it has to work on IMF program by following FATF rules. Islamabad will also have to take action against the military groups working inside the boundaries and if it failed to do so or blacklisted it could have worst effect on it’s economy.
While sharing her views on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) she said that its the internal matter of Pakistan and Islamabad have to decide whether it should continue with this project or not. Regarding Afghan peace process, she said that US is happy and appreciate the step Pakistan has made to continue a progressive talk on Afghan peace process and it’s role is very important as an alley.
